Zamboanga Sibugay, South Cotabato owing to dengue in a state of calamity

There is a rise in dengue instances led local authorities in Zamboanga Sibugay and South Cotabato to declare a state of calamity.

Some dengue patients from Zamboanga Sibugay were taken for therapy to Zamboanga City and put in a hospital room as the rooms were complete.

The amount of dengue instances in Zamboanga Sibugay increased by 2,000 percent compared to the amount of instances in 2018, based on information from the Department of Health-Region 9. Because of dengue, 48 patients have already died in the province.

Authorities in Zamboanga City proclaimed a state of disaster to allow local government access to resources to solve the scenario.

Meanwhile, the state of calamity has also been proclaimed in South Cotabato as dengue incidents have risen in five cities.

South Cotabato has more than 3,000 instances of dengue, according to the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.

Twenty-one instances were killed.

42 fatalities have already been reported in the entire Soccsksargen region.

In the area, instances of dengue have risen by 151%.

Authorities in the various cities have performed extensive fogging activities and cleanup drive.

Meanwhile, five fatalities from dengue were reported in Benguet.

An eight-year-old kid was the recent victim.

 

The amount has increased from more than 300 instances in 2018 and it’s more than 400 this year.
