On Friday, September 13, Agriculture Secretary William Dar resulted the National Food Authority (NFA) to unload inexpensive imported rice into a public market in Quezon City to push down staple rates. Dar said the NFA would sell 3.6 million rice bags across the country, most of which would be allocated to Metro Manila. NFA rice will be sold to distributors at P25 per kilo and customers at P27 per kilo.

Fourteen out of 20 blood samples from pigs sent to the United Kingdom tested positive for African swine fever or ASF, Agriculture Secretary William Dar said Monday as he assured the public that the disease had been contained. Approximately 7,416 pigs were culled in parts of Rizal and Bulacan within the 1-kilometer radius of the impacted regions, Dar said. These regions are now regarded as the disease’s “cleaned,” he said.
