SURIGAO DEL NORTE, Philippines – There are 25 confirmed people that were hurt and properties, buildings and established damaged after a 5.5-magnitude quake hit the town of Carrascal, in Surigao.
The tremor, struck during the wee hours of the morning at 4:42 a.m., with its epicenter recorded nine kilometers southeast of Carrascal. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) have confirmed this.
A 3.8-magnitude aftershock followed at 5:15 a.m.
The numbers of injured people could rise as reports from other localities will start coming in. Most of the injured were not able to fend for themselves as the earthquake came while most people are still sleeping.
