Cheese in Cebu? Who doesn’t love cheese?

Cut straight from the block or fried and melted, by itself or as a topping, cheese is a food item enjoyed anytime of the day. In celebration of National Cheese Day tomorrow, here are six cheese-tastic dishes from restaurants. For all the cheese lovers out there, this is for you!

1) Cheese Ribs from Fat Dois

Where: A.S. Fortuna St., Banilad, Mandaue City

Patiently wait for the cheese to slowly melt on the hot plate and once it’s nice and gooey, take a piece from the rack, coat it in cheese and take your ­first glorious bite.

 

2) Cheesy Pancake Bomb from Cafe Sarree

Where: Escario Central, Escario Street; Rustan’s Fresh Supermarket, Ayala Center Cebu

Cafe Sarree hikes up the breakfast staple: two of its ‑ fluffy specialty pancakes stacked, served on a hot plate and smothered in a cheese sauce, and then ­ finally, topped with crispy bacon.

 

3) Formaggi Pizza from Tavolata

Where: Design Center of Cebu; Level 4, Garden Area, Ayala Center Cebu

Tavolata does a re­nowned take on the beloved all-cheese pizza with its signature hand-tossed dough slathered in rich tomato sauce and sprinkled with four kinds of cheese: Gorgonzola, Asiago, Taleggio and Mozzarella cheese.

 

4) Camemburger from Weekend

Where: Ground level, The Greenery, Pope John Paul II Ave., Cebu City

From the bottom up: ‑ fluffy buttered buns, tasty bacon marmalade, a house-ground certified Angus beef patty, an entire wheel of camembert cheese—deep-fried to perfection resulting in a slightly crisp exterior and soft, silky interior—and then topped with crisp micro greens.

 

5) Ultimate Patty Melt from Fat Cow

Where: Banilad Town Center; second level, Robinsons Galleria Cebu

Sandwiched between two slices of parmesan-crusted bread are a quarter-pounder premium beef patty, caramelized onions and a secret three-cheese blend.

 

6) Dak-galbi from Useong Chuncheon Dakgalbi Korean Restaurant

Where: Ground ­ floor, Raintree Mall, F. Ramos St., Cebu City

Fans of Korean fare love this piquant dish made with succulent boneless chicken, cabbage, sweet potatoes coated in gochujang sauce with melted mozzarella cheese on the side.
