Investigation is continuing over the killing of self-confessed Cebu drug lord Franz Sabalones. Quezon City Police District (QCPD) spokesperson Police Captain Rohaina Asalan said that the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU’s) probe is still continuing.
QCPD chief Police Brigadier General Joselito Esquivel Jr. added there is “nothing significant yet” in the investigation informed in a separate text message.
Sabalones was shot in the head on Thursday early morning at the corner of Scout Borromeo and Mother Ignacia in Barangay South Triangle, Quezon City. He perished on the spot.
In 2016, Sabalones yielded and acknowledged that he was a drug lord in Region 7, saying that he had assumed control of Cebu’s drug trade from drug kingpin Jeffrey “Jaguar” Diaz, who was killed during a reported encounter with authorities.
Authorities have said they are not discounting the possibility that his killing was related to his alleged involvement to illegal drugs.
Conferring to the QCPD, Sabalones’ cell phones will be submitted to the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group for digital forensic examination.
