The House of Representatives adopted a resolution expressing deep condolences to the late environmentalist and philanthropist Gina Lopez’s family, who succumbed last Aug. 19 to multiple organ failure.
The resolution quoted the job of Lopez as the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission and the ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation’s environmental secretary and chairman.
Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, Majority Leader Martin Romualdez and Minority Leader Bienvenido Abante presented the resolution. Earlier, a lawmaker suggested renaming the La Mesa Dam Eco Park in honor of Lopez, who advocated its rehabilitation and ecological park creation.
Lopez also set up the Bantay Bata 163, a helpline dedicated to reporting child abuse cases, and ordered the closure or suspension of 28 mines as the first environmental secretary of President Rodrigo Duterte.Share on
